Where the games and shows are

Arenas, stages and fields

Hockey, softball, baseball, soccer and curling are why a great many people drive between Newfoundland towns, all winter and all summer. Most pages here measure from where you start: an airport, a ferry or a town. These measure from the building, because on a tournament weekend the venue is where you are. The question at one o'clock, between games, is what you can reach and be back from. Theatres, arts centres and concert halls are here too, each with its own calendar linked.

69 venues across 29 towns, with distances by road to what the open map records nearby. Every page also says what we don't know about the place — heated stands, accessibility, the story — because those decide whether somebody comes and are published nowhere.

5 of these have no real name on the open map — they are recorded as "Softball Field" or similar. Around here they nearly always have a proper name, often somebody's. That is a twenty-second fix that improves every map app at once.

Know a rink, field or club that's missing?

This list comes from OpenStreetMap, the free map that many apps and car systems use, so nobody can pay to be on it.

  • Add it yourself. About twenty minutes on a phone, and free. You don't need to own the place. How →
  • Or tell us. Send the name on the sign, the address, what kind of place it is and a phone number, and we'll put it on the map. You don't have to say who you are.

Listed as "unconfirmed"? Only one source has it. Fix its position on OpenStreetMap and it gets a pin and directions. Why

A listing shows the building, the places to eat and things to do near it, by road, and details like heated stands or wheelchair viewing. There are no rankings or schedules.

Venues from OpenStreetMap, eateries from Overture Maps, distances by road from OSRM. Measured 2026-10-21. The town under each name is the nearest mapped settlement rather than a stated address, so if one of these sits under the wrong community, tell us — around a bay that is precisely what a map gets wrong and a local gets right. Nothing here is a schedule and nothing is a recommendation.
