Questions

How far is the Viking Trail?+

476 km of driving, measured here from Deer Lake up Route 430 and Route 436 to L'Anse aux Meadows, then on to St. Anthony. Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism, which names the drive, gives about 687 km. Their figure is an estimate and likely counts side roads. This page measures the main line, and each side trip is measured with its stop.

Where does it start, and which way round?+

The province starts it at Deer Lake, where Route 430 leaves the Trans-Canada, and says it can be driven in reverse. This page measures it northbound. The distance is the same either way.

Do I drive past Port au Choix and the Tablelands?+

No, both are side trips. The Tablelands and Green Gardens are on Route 431, and Port au Choix is on Route 430-28 from Port Saunders. Each stop below gives the extra driving.

How does this relate to the Deer Lake airport routes?+
