challengingRated one way, for the path walked one way: 13.1 km and about 531 m of climbing. How

Access: the rating measures effort only. Surface isn't recorded for most of it. Step-free access isn't recorded; ask the park before you go.

Getting to the trailhead — Gander (YQX) to the start of the Coastal Ridge Trail: 98 km by road.Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Tiles by OpenFreeMap. Route line computed with OSRM.

The number that matters here is not the summit: the trail never gets above 159 m. It is the 531 accumulated metres of up-and-down as the mapped path rides headland after headland along Salvage’s outer coast. You earn every lookout twice, once climbing to it and once giving it back.

The trailhead is in the village, at the end of the measured drive from Gander: 98 km to the trailhead. Salvage also has a wider mapped trail network (the “Salvage Trails” system in OpenStreetMap). It branches too much for this site to measure as one line, so this page covers the ridge line that chains end to end. The rest of the network is still to be added.
