On the way to…

  1. Codroy Valley Wetlands →

South of the start, toward Port aux Basques. With Grand Bay West, one of two nesting sites of the piping plover, an endangered shore bird, per the province's tourism site. Keep out of areas marked by the exclusion signs.

Stopping here adds about 46 km to that drive (42 km start to finish).

  2. Port aux Basques → Corner Brook →

A ParksNL campground close to the ferry terminal: sand beach, dune boardwalk, and the first sheltered pitch off the boat. Piping plovers nest here, so parts of the beach close; the park's postings say where. Check ParksNL for season and sites.

Stopping here adds about 4.4 km to that drive (222 km start to finish).

  3. YDF → Port aux Basques →

The ParksNL campground on this route, just before town, with a sand beach and dune boardwalk. It is also piping plover shore: parts of the beach close for nesting, and the park's postings say where. ParksNL publishes the season and sites.

Stopping here adds about 2.6 km to that drive (271 km start to finish).

  4. Port aux Basques → Gros Morne →

Stopping here adds about 4.4 km to that drive (337 km start to finish).
