Route 10 is what the province calls the Irish Loop Drive, and the communities it strings together are the ones nearest the islands of Witless Bay Ecological Reserve: the province says those islands hold North America's largest Atlantic Puffin colony and, after Baccalieu Island, the world's second-largest Leach's Storm-petrel colony. Landing takes a permit, so people watch the birds from licensed tour boats that leave from these communities.
