Snowmobile routes, measured

Same rules as the drives and the hiking trails: line length from the mapped OpenStreetMap ways, elevation from terrain data, and the drive measured to where a truck and trailer get onto the railbed. A railbed's profile is flat, and that is the measurement. Where the corridor meets each airport, and who grooms it, is in the snowmobiling guide.

Why the mountains are not on this list

Avalanche terrain. Avalanche Canada forecasts the Long Range Mountains, including Gros Morne. Avalanche Canada's forecast does not name Blow Me Down, the Lewis Hills or Jackson's Arm on White Bay. Outside a live Long Range bulletin, the call is yours.

Those mountains are not in the open map, so they get no page here.

One recorded GPX of a ridden loop would make one. Send it in; its page would name Avalanche Canada as the authority on the forecast.

Grooming, open status, ice and passes belong to the federation, the clubs and the province. Every route page links to them and names the statute behind the rules of the road.
